May 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. a fun, free family event celebrating International Compost Awareness Week in partnership with the Collinsville Cool Cities Committee(CCC) and the Good Dirt Composting Collective (GDCC). This community celebration highlights composting as a powerful tool for reducing food waste, improving soil health, and building sustainable communities. Families are invited to bring their own buckets to collect free, nutrient-rich compost, explore hands-on compost demonstrations, and visit Willoughby Compost Central to learn easy composting methods for home. The event also features a collaboration with Roxana High School's Biology Club, whose students will lead interactive learning stations, science activities, garden exploration, and storytime. Free take-aways include fresh produce, a copy of Tops and Bottoms, a Willoughby Farm fun hat, and compost-while supplies last.
Please bring your own container for the day of pick-up.
