The largest hamfest in the region is returning to the Collinsville Gateway Center January 26th. This multi-state gathering of amateur radio enthusiasts will converge on the Gateway Center from 08:00 to 13:00 on Saturday, January 26th. Vendors from several states will have some of the newest and up-to-date amateur radio equipment along with some antiques from previous generations. Flea market sellers will have everything from antenna launchers to weather stations and almost every item in between. Communicators who are just hitting their tween years to those who are in the nineties will be present, purchasing, selling, networking and socializing with each other. Winterfest will have forums that will show how amateur radio is necessary for coordinated disaster responses. Volunteer Examiners (VE's) will be monitoring testing sessions to allow individuals to obtain their first FCC license or upgrade their license to the next level. If you have an interest in the hobby of amateur radio, Winterfest is the place you want to be this Saturday. Visit winterfest.slsrc.org for details.
