    Job Description
    Basic Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or GED;
    • Minimum three years of regulatory compliance experience in a financial institution – other equivalent experience will be considered;
    • Personal computer experience to include Microsoft Office products.
    • Some college is preferred;
    • Experience with lending compliance, particularly credit card compliance, is strongly preferred;
    • Experience with professional compliance networks is preferred
    • Ability to communicate well in writing; 
    Primary Functions:
    The Compliance Specialist will work under the general supervision of the Compliance Officer to ensure the credit union’s overall compliance with applicable federal and state rules, regulations, and statutory requirements.  This will be accomplished through the compliance management program and performance of the primary duties and responsibilities listed below.
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Responsible for the administration of the Compliance Management Program and the Compliance Change Management system, including providing updates and reports from the system as requested;
    • Ensure assigned compliance reviews are performed when scheduled and required review reports are submitted on a timely basis;
    • Participate in the development of new compliance reviews and reports;
    • Perform the requested items document collections required by the compliance reviews performed by SCU's external auditors and professional services providers; these reviews will include, but are not limited to, the ACH and the BSA/AML compliance reviews;
    • Input information from compliance reviews into the audit and issue tracking system and produce required reports;
    • Maintain the compliance request system and provide reports from the system as requested;
    • Respond to compliance questions and requests that are assigned to the Compliance Specialist;
    • Submit compliance questions and requests to a third-party compliance consultant or to the Illinois Credit Union League, and, when appropriate, distribute the response from the consultant or the League to the appropriate parties;
    • Participate in the selection and management of new compliance vendors and service providers; at a minimum, this responsibility will include reviewing contracts and agreements, collecting required due diligence documents from vendor(s), and providing cost-benefit analysis;
    • Attend meetings and training seminars/webinars that relate to credit union regulations, legislation, policies, and procedures;
    Perform such other duties and responsibilities as management may from time to time assign
    Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) Certification or an equivalent certification or the ability to acquire the CUCE certification from CUNA within 24 months;
    Work Schedule:
    Full Time Position - Monday through Friday (8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m.)
    Saturdays and Sundays as required.

    Salary Range:
    $20.68 hourly - $26.94 hourly
