$1,000 Distracted Driving Prevention Scholarship Announced by TorHoerman Law
Edwardsville, Ill., March 6, 2018 –TorHoerman Law is thrilled to announce the establishment of the TorHoerman Law Scholarship Program. This year, the firm will be awarding $1,000 to a student who best explains the dangers of distracted driving and what steps our society can do to prevent it.
The scholarship has been created to not only assist students with the costly burden of college, but to raise awareness on the issue of distracted driving. In 2015 alone, distracted driving resulted in 391,000 injuries and claimed the lives of 3,477 passengers in the United States. Distracted driving can include, but isn’t limited to, texting, talking on the phone, eating and drinking, or talking to passengers.
“With this scholarship, we’re hoping to highlight the dangers of distracted driving,” Eric Terry, Attorney at TorHoerman Law said. “As personal injury lawyers, we see all too often the dangers and repercussions of distracted driving. The scholarship would require students to think about the dangers and how to raise awareness on the issue.”
In order to apply, students may either write an essay or create a video regarding the following questions:
“Distracted driving claims the lives of thousands every year, yet it can be prevented,” Terry said. “If we would all take due diligence to put the phone down and concentrate on the road ahead, the roads would be much safer.”
The scholarship is available to all current college students and incoming college freshmen.
Applications are now being accepted. The deadline to apply is April 1, 2018. A winner will be chosen and announced in May 2018.
