September 1st - October 15th - Get Your Toga On! (A Visit to Rome Exhibit) Collinsville Library
The exhibit takes visitors behind the scenes for sights and secrets of this fascinating city that attracts
millions annually from around the world. They’ll see Ancient Rome --a place where emperors reigned,
gladiators battled, and togas were an accepted mode of dress.
Visitors will marvel at this city’s history of more than 2,500 years and see magnificent arches, aqueducts, and sites still well preserved. Display cases will include unusual pieces such as Roman coins (replicas) and special items brought home by Rome visitors. There will be data on popular sites such as the Colosseum, Forum, Vatican, and Trevi Fountain and art by Michelangelo. And guests can register free for a drawing of special prizes – some from Rome itself.
